He holds a master’s degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology from Università di Roma, Sapienza, where he achieved an outstanding grade of 110/110 cum laude for his thesis on the study of Minimal Residual Disease (MRD) in patients with Acute Lymphoid Leukemia (ALL). Prior to his master’s degree, Dr. Merafina completed a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences at the Università degli studi di Bari Aldo Moro, with a thesis focused on the functional role of miRNAs in mitochondria. His educational background underscores his strong commitment to advancing our understanding of complex biological systems.

In terms of work experience, Dr. Merafina has contributed significantly to the field. He interned at Policlinico Umberto I, specifically at the “Istituto di Ematologia del Dipartimento di Medicina Traslazionale e di Precisione dell’Università degli Studi di Roma Sapienza, Policlinico Umberto I.” During this period, he was involved in genetic and molecular diagnosis of different transcripts inducing Acute Lymphoid Leukemia (ALL), demonstrating his expertise in cell culture techniques, molecular and cellular biology.
