Dr. Antonio Alfonso Bencomo-Hernández is the Chief Scientific Officer at Abu Dhabi Stem Cells Center (ADSCC), bringing more than 38 years of experience across health sciences, hematology, transplantation immunology, and cell therapy.

Prior to joining ADSCC, Dr. Bencomo-Hernández served as the Director and founder of the Center for Transplantation and Tissue Engineering (CICEL) and as Deputy Director for Advanced Technology at the Institute of Hematology in Havana, Cuba. He has also contributed to the academic community as a member of the editorial board of the Cuban Journal of Hematology, Immunology, and Hemotherapy.

An accomplished researcher and author, Dr. Bencomo-Hernández has published more than 100 scientific articles in the fields of immunohematology, transplantation immunology, and cell therapy. Throughout his career, he has led 51 research projects and supervised master’s students, medical specialists, and Ph.D. candidates.

Dr. Bencomo-Hernández holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Havana and a Ph.D. in Health Sciences from the Institute of Medical Sciences of Havana. He previously served as Professor of Hematology and Transfusion at the Institute of Medical Sciences of Havana and as a Senior Investigator at the Institute of Hematology and Immunology (IHI) in Havana. He is also a former President of the Cuban Society of Hematology.
